As the Observer
I think I've been an observer my whole life. I can't think of a time when I wasn't studying the world—especially the people—around me. To me, the world and the people that live in it are absolutely fascinating. Everything has a story and sometimes, if you take the time to watch and listen, you witness something truly magical unfold.
To me, being a photographer means a lot of things. It makes me a lot of things. But all of it boils down to this: I'm an observer and my job is to observe. I couldn't think of a better job for myself, honestly. (Aside from being a mom, of course)
You learn a lot by watching the world around you. You learn about the environment and how it impacts people. You learn about the variety of people that exist in that environment. You learn about yourself and how the environment and its people make you feel. And as a photographer, you can capture all of that in the photos you take. Being a photographer means so many things. It makes me so many things. But of all the things I am as a photographer, being an observer is probably my favorite part.
